What exactly is a snippet?

A snippet is a T-SQL script. This could be a stored procedure, any DML statement or any other 'snippet' of T-SQL logic.

What is a briefcase?

This is the virtual, online storage place for all your snippets. Only you have access to your briefcase, although you may share individual snippets within your briefcase.

What is a bolt?

A bolt is a way to let someone know you like their snippet. Maybe their snippet was well-designed, or maybe it helped you out. Either way, let your fellow 'Snipologists' know you appreciate their code by giving them a 'bolt'!

What are 'Snipologists'?

This is you! Anyone who joins SnipStorm.com, submits snippets and shares them with the community is a Snipologist.

What are medals and how are they awarded?

Medals are awarded for a variety of things. Anytime you contribute to the SnipStorm community, points are awarded to you and sometimes another Snipologist. As you accumulate points, medals are awarded based on your point totals.

Medals are also given when you reach certain milestones during your time interacting with the community. Things like sharing snippets, giving out bolts, or the number of views your snippets receive.

Purple Score Medals

 Gold is awarded for reaching the 1000 point level.
 Silver is awarded for reaching the 500 point level.
 Bronze is awarded for reaching the 100 point level.

Red Snippet Medals

 Gold is awarded when you have submitted 100 snippets.
 Silver is awarded when you have submitted 50 snippets.
 Bronze is awarded when you have submitted 25 snippets.

Blue Bolt Medals

 Gold is awarded when you have bolt'd 50 snippets.
 Silver is awarded when you have bolt'd 25 snippets.
 Bronze is awarded when you have bolt'd 10 snippets.

Yellow View Medals

 Gold is awarded when you have viewed 100 snippets.
 Silver is awarded when you have viewed 50 snippets.
 Bronze is awarded when you have viewed 25 snippets.

Green Sharing Medals

 Gold is awarded when you share all the snippets in your briefcase.
 Silver is awarded when you share 10 snippets in your briefcase.
 Bronze is awarded when you share 1 snippet in your briefcase.

How do I accumulate points?

Anytime you contribute to the SnipStorm community, points are awarded to you and sometimes another Snipologist.

What are 'Jet Streams', 'Microbursts' and 'Supercells'?

These are categories of Snipologists based on different ranking criteria.

 Jet Streams are Snipologists with the highest lifetime scores.

 Microbursts are Snipologists with the highest storm ratings. A storm rating is the weighted combination of views and bolts a Snipologist receives.

 Supercells are the Snipologists with the most snippet submissions.
